Discussion: (3632) consists of 2 separate units (3715) mortar and (3716) brick and was dry sieved only (no routine samples).
Wall F.286 proved fairly interesting for a number of reasons. Although reasonably clear in section the layers proved to be fairly fused together suggesting they were damp/wet when the wall was made. Some layers were also fairly uneven there in a fairly consistent slope to the W and also slightly to the S. Midway across the wall the layers delve down to the wall below. To the S, the slightly sloping nature of the wall suggests it may have been free standing for some of its lifetime, meaning that wall F.52 was built afterwards, on the other hand, the relationship is not entirely clear. The issue of the infill layer between the two walls needs to be resolved.
To the E end, at the top (course) the wall (F.286) is abutted by wall F.267 (JS's). However, the bricks at the top of F.267 are different and towards the bottom of F.268 the walls are bounded. This change occurs about halfway down F.286.
To the W there is a complicated and not fully resolved picture. F.286 continues E and is abutted by wall F.259 which heads N. At this corner there is a relationship between four walls and an infill layer (3762/3736).
Recognition: Upon removal of uneven layers of mudbrick this level plane was reached, visible on N side of wall.
Definition: Clear boundaries generally, but some courses disrupted and weathered/very dry.
Execution: Trowel, pick and mattock.
Condition: Dry at edges/surface, surprisingly damp further down.

Inclusions: relatively small amounts (<2%) of obsidian, stone, bone, clayball, charcoal and shell
Post-depositional Features: salt, often heavy, between layers, roots, insect holes and two ants nests
Basal Boundary: constructional/very sharp/prominent but irregular due to the form of the wall below
