Unit 4160
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: platform make up
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: mortar; Deposition: layered (wall plaster)
Dimensions: 0.52m N-S x 0.15m E-W. Thickness 2cm
Discussion: Patchy remaining plaster covering the initial first phase core of platform F288. Initially would have covered the whole of the first phase core 4166 and appears to have been thicker on the vertical sides of the platform rather than the flat, horizontal surface, though may have been heavily eroded there when in use. At the north of the platform the plaster laps up over the plaster on the north wall of space 117, F64 (3798 / 2394)
Small patch of dark coloured platform make-up for F288, directly overlying the first phase core plaster of the feature.
Recognition: Small block of dark material over platform plaster
Definition: Clearly differentiated from surrounding layers
Execution: Trowel from edge
Condition: Dry but firm
Consistency: Firm
Colour: Dark gray
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: Layered
Inclusions: Occasional <5% charcoal flecks
Post-depositional Features: None apparent
Basal Boundary: Clear, smooth, anthropic
