Unit 4164
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: plaster rendering
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: raised area (platform); Material: white clay; Deposition: single
Dimensions: 1.34m E-W x 1.26m N-S. Thickness 1 to 3 cm .
Discussion: Patchy remaining plaster covering the initial first phase core of platform F288. Initially would have covered the whole of the first phase core (4166) and appears to have been thicker on the vertical sides of the platform rather than the flat horizontal surface, though may have been heavily eroded here when in use. At the north of the platform the plaster laps up over the plaster on the north wall of sp117 , F64 3798/2394.
Recognition: Clear white deposit over much of F288
Definition: Mostly limited to platform F288 though clearly partly lapping over plaster on N wall of Sp 117
Execution: Trowel from edges
Condition: Dry and hard though partly worn away
Consistency: Firm
Colour: White
Texture: Silty clay
Bedding: Massive
Inclusions: Occasional Charcoal flecks<2%
Post-depositional Features: None apparent
Basal Boundary: Clear, smooth anthropic
