Unit 8000
Category: layer dug in 2003
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Plaster layer
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: basin; Material: white clay; Deposition: single
Discussion: A fairly even layer of plaster though thicker at the rim. The plaster layer slopes up on to the platform (1302) towards the north. The rim of the basin is made of plaster all the way down to the next layer. The plaster was harder and more compact at the rim - edges and more "lumpy" and "chunky" in the centre. A shell was found upside down towards the NW corner, as well as a stone. A few pieces of charcoal here and there, as well as a few pieces of bone. A lens of darker, coarser material was also contained within the plaster.
This unit represents a plaster layer of the basin.
