Unit 8873
Category: Cut dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial cut
Data Category Information: Description: burial
Dimensions: N-S 45/60 cm; E-W 250 cm
Discussion: U. 8873 is a cut, which has destroyed U. 8871. It is rectangular in plan and its base is irregular. The N and S sides are curved and there are walls visible in the N and S sections. The cut is W-E oriented and is 172 cm long (W-E). The W side is 60 cm long and the E one - 45 cm.
When we started to excavate the unit, we thought that it is a burial but there is no evidence for this so far.
The cut truncates F. 1453 and F. 1454 (S and W walls of sp. 243).
After Pedja hit a skull in the fill, he continued to excavate. After removal of fills N1, N2 and the skeleton, here is the cut again: the cut is irregular rectangle with rounded corners. Top break of slopes - sharp at N, S, W; E - slopes at 60 degrees. The E side slopes, the W side is vertical, and the N and S are curved. Base break of slopes - N, S, W - sharp; E - slopes at 60 degrees. The base is flat. The cut is W-E oriented; it is 250 cm long (W-E). The W side is 60 cm long and the E one - 45 cm.
