Discussion: Layer within midden. Base slopes down slightly from east to west. Lies up against south wall, and truncated at west by Mellaart - Domestic refuse. Small find X1- E 119.48/ N 974.72 1006.84 OD

Colour: 10YR 3/1 very dark grey
Texture: Silty Clay Loam
Bedding: Compound layered: varying from 0.3m to 0.02m, slightly convolute
Inclusions: 5%: bone, charcoal, white plaster frags, 2%: clay balls, pottery, shell, obsidian
Post-depositional Features: NW area is more compact - poosibly to do with Mellart's excavation
Basal Boundary: Dumped, wavy, distinct

Unit description: 2014 recording protocol. Medium size unit with a moderate amount of processing resulting in only a small number of recordable fragments overall. Unit consisted of D.S and >4mm flotation. D.S includes mainly cattle and sheep size fragments. Cattle fragments include large vertebrae, long bone shafts and rib fragments. Sheep fragments include metapodials, toes and shaft fragments. Pig teeth were also found and recorded for this unit. There was a very small amount of burning. Surface condition was variable with some fragments moderate and others heavy. There was also a small amount of gnawing and a small amount of digestion. Flot: Mainly sheep size fragments and unidentifiable scrap, one pig tooth was recordable, egg shell and fish bone extracted. Scrap weight=67g. Overall the unit has coherence and is typical of a midden unit.Figurine Records: Yes
