Discussion: A dump layer interfacing with an ashy layer below. The bottom of the layer slopes steeply down towards the west. CHANGE OF INTERPRETATION: At this point we decided that the previous theory was wrong. The dumped layers are not sitting within a cut, but instead are cut into in the SW corner of this space. The fill of the cut is the clayey brown material (typical of house backfill) which was originally thought to be the earliest deposit. Dry Sieve Information: Unknown if any dry seive

Colour: 2.5Y 3/1 very dark grey 

Texture: Sandy Silt Loam 

Bedding: Compound layered ash and clay 

Inclusions: >5% charcoal, ,2% bone, clay balls

Basal Boundary: Dumped, sharp, dictinct, wavy, inclined (towards West)
