Description: FAST TRACK 

 

Discussion: The mortar of this unit was barely discernible amongst the surrounding mudbrick, and for this reason no samples were taken. Mortar was noted between courses of mudbrick, but NOT between individual mudbricks.

Recognition: Identified as part of mudbrick F. 1752-- mortar between bricks 

Definition: The mortar is defined by consistency, color andlocation (surrounding mudbrick) 

Execution: Trowel 

Condition: Cool, dry, windy 

Consistency: Fairly loose, flaky 

Colour: Greyish beige 

Texture: Loam 

Bedding: Massive (but found between bricks of unit 11031) 

Inclusions: None noted 

Post-depositional Features: Small root systems, some burrowing 

Basal Boundary: Where material meets mudbrick of surrounding fill
