Unit 11028
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Fill,Midden
Data Category Information: Location: external; Deposition: finely bedded
Discussion: We descended in this level to the elevation of the wall on the S side of space 242, in order to give it more definition, as well as to further define wall features 1752 and 1755. This unit was excavated independently of unit 11027, due to a difference in sediment consistency and texture. We removed the chunk of charcoal and burned clay from the N central part of the unit after pedestalling to define its outline and depth. This may be the rubble from an oven feature-- high concentration of burned clay and charcoal. At the base of the unit, there was a great deal of decomposed plaster "marbling". Additionally, the plaster wall noted at the surface of this unit appears to be an earlier plaster wall surface, extending deeper into the next level.
