Unit 12131
Category: Layer dug in 2005
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Displaced Plaster Feature
Data Category Information: In Situ: non in-situ; Location: building; Material: plaster; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Plaster seemed to represent coherent feature, with one slid vertical side and undercutting by rodent hole truncating opposite. Was not parallel to walls and was floating on fill. Looked like someone threw an intact bin in with the room fill. Took out in order to excavate to floor.
In retrospect, may ave been something like the "work platform" Roddy found near his hearth, except this one is displaced.
Recognition: Large chunk of solid plaster in heterogeneous fill
Definition: Very different content from surroundings -> color, etc.
Execution: trowel
Condition: hot, rushed execution
Consistency: compact
Colour: light whitish grey
Texture: clay/plaster
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: none
Post-depositional Features: rodent burrow
Basal Boundary: clear return to motled fill; fairly horizontal
