Area: South
Interpretive Categories: make up
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: layer is made up of broken burnt bricks in a clay/silt matrix. The bricks have been mostly smashed and used as a make up layer for B.53. This layer is extant across most of the floor area except in NE corner. The layer has also been used to backfill a pit (14320).
Essentially the layer may have 3 stages:
1. Backfill a pit
2. Settling ( a fine soil-like lense is visible in N-facing section in possible gully area of 14320
3. Further backfilling/make up
