Dimensions: length 1.50m width 0.30m 70mm depth 

Discussion: Cut (in gap) for bedding the blocking of wall 96/50. Rectangular in plan, sides sloping slightly inwards towards base breaking sharply from the top. Base rough and rather unclear. c. 20 ?. Uncertain break of slope rather curved. The western edge is poorly preserved or was carelessly cut, and is clear only at the north end. Cut for base of wall 96/50 (unit 1088) . Cut into the step going through the gap (96/55) . Edges not easy to define especially on the west side , and base not thoroughly sorted out. should be regarded as foundation trench or keying.
