Discussion: this is a midden layer that is situated within Mellart's trench but was not excavated by him. It abutes the western side of the wall 12230 which comes from the earlier period. The layer in its northern part is cut by a later pit and in its southern part is limited by the edge of a trench. The western border of the midden is defined arbitrarly as a parallel line to the wall 12230 at about 80 cm from the wall. There is also wall 15891, one- two - brick high, limiting the south - east part of the layer. The midden difers in wide range of characteristics. In some parts its texture is ashy, in other sandy or clay. It's colour ranges from light grey to dark brown or even black. The reason for that might be a high percentage of post depositional processes like roots and animals corridors. There were many fragments of pottery and animal bones found witin the layer. 22 - x finds were named, mostly worked stone and small clay balls.
TDV taken from dims.
