Dimensions: 1.58m x 0.69m x (0.02-0.06m) 

Discussion: Layer of fill of cut 1546, beneath 1593, peeling off the subsequent layer of fill fairly easily. This was more homogeneous than 1593, so may only represent one episode of deposition. It also came easily away from it uneven Southern edge, apparently maintaining this limit. A section across this layer was left to try and view the layering in section.

Colour: 2.5Y 4/3 

Texture: silty clay loam 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: 2-5 % charcoal (<30cm); 5% clay (<60mm); 2% plaster (<20mm)

Basal Boundary: clear, wavey, unintentional anthropogenic boundary
