Discussion: The remainder of cut fill from cut 1546 was removed to the surface of the charcoal/ash midden deposit defining its lower edge in section. In doing this, it is possible it is possible that some of the material removed, lay beneath the cut though no distinction was visible in the edge left unexcavated. The material removed, included several fine lenses of various materials and a significant component of huge clay lumps, red , white and greyish, as well as fill material similar to that above. This could be waste from construction and other episodes of deposition mixed together. The material rich in bone fragments and stone, sand peeled easily off the........ interface below ?
