Dimensions: 20m N-S, 6m E-W, 25cm deep 

 

Discussion: Most likely interpretation is that Unit 16940 is a rodent burrow, based on the shape, color and consistency of soil. Once unit was determined to bioturbation, the excavation ceased without following the diving holes. 

 

Recognition: very dark greyish brown soil 

Definition: dark colored soil surrounded by different soils 

Execution: trowel, brush 

Condition: warm, shaded, dry 

Consistency: loose 

Colour: very dark greyish brown 

Texture: silty 

Bedding: homogenous 

Inclusions: pottery, animal bone 

Post-depositional Features:  

Basal Boundary: rounded, dipping, end of dark dry soil, abandoned without following burrow all the way down
