Discussion: Primary plaster on west facing wall F.1660. Realtively uniform and well preserved along with other walls of the building.
As with all the walls the primary plaster seems to be a blocky bedding to create an even surface for subsequent applications of plaster render with some fine layerings of rendition. The plaster lips around the plastery mortar core of post scar F.1496 indicating that the post was inserted, a mortar render (17927) added around the post and then plastered. The northern post scar was a solid packing of blocky plaster core creating two pronounced heavy vertical ridges (max 0.14m wide). This would have been the result of the post not lying flush to the wall but leaning (or bent in shape) against the wall and the behind cavity filled by the plaster packing, to strengthen ? But also filling the void?
Coud this indicate that the posts were irregular in shape and size.
The wall elevation (brick face) is irregular as would be expected.
