Dimensions: 1.50 m x 0.78 m x 0.03 m 

 

Discussion: This cut represents the extent of pit f. 3954, an extremely shallow pit most identifiable where it cuts into the mud-brick deposit u. 20224 to the south. The basal boundary is defined by a soil change to a mottled orange clay loam and a deposit of extremely dark soil. It is possible this cut is not for a pit, but instead is a shallow basin-like repository for u. 20227, which could be a natural fill (or blowover from u. 20225, but the way it cuts into u. 20224 seems to belie that hypothesis.
