Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous

Discussion: Unit 21143 was easy to distinguish because it was surrounded by a midden and two graves. It was a typical foundation supporting the wall. It was separated from the wall by a thin layer of mortar. There was an ash patch near the bottom. As we were digging, lower material became more compact and harder, so we had to use mattocks to excavate it. 

Consistency: Ash lense-loose, the rest- firm 

Colour: compound layers of grey lense in the center (ash lense) and light brown around it. 

Texture: Loam 

Bedding: Compound with ash and loam lenses 

Inclusions: Small charcoal (about 5%) 

Post-depositional Features: Animal disturbances in form of holes 

Basal Boundary: Arbitrary
