Description: Fill excavated in spits of 10cm 

Discussion: This unit lies below infills units 21122 and 21166. It was initially planned to be excavated in spits. It was a bit higher in the east when we started there. We excavated with pick axe. We sampled for flotation and archive; we did not sieve since no amount of finds were noted during sampling. In the west we found a new unit after 10 cm only, but the unit was thicker; thus the unit was sloping.

It seems this infill was filled in between the walls F.3660 and F.3655 (the latter of b. 102) in order to provide stability to the laying of the later building above. U 21122 and 21166 were compacted above it to make the plan even. Beneath lies collapsed wall (?) u. 21186 and a grey infill (u. 21181). One nice find, an obsidian spear head, was found in the NE corner, and was x-finded (x.1) 

Consistency: Firm, friable with trowel 

Colour: light brown, varied 

Texture: sandy silt and clay 

Bedding: compound 

Inclusions: construction debris; brick, plaster, mortar fragments 

Post-depositional Features: Animal burrows, test trenches (2012) 

Basal Boundary: clear
