Building 128

Area: North 

Location: Between B3 and B102 in NE corner of N shelter 

6,15 E-W x 3,15 N-S m with a rectangular shape. B128 was a hevily eroded and trampled building, mainly because being close to surface and also exposed for some time. It had 3 visible rooms. The main room Sp. 40 was located in the E part and the side rooms 39 (N) and 502 (S) in the west. The construction of the house started with the laying of F7572 in the NW corner, which was built over an existing wall (F7599) and it was probably built as supporting of F3655 an older wall which the people re-used as the building's norther outer wall. Then they made foundation cut for F3656 and F3660 (S and W outer walls). For F3656 they did not cut for foundation in its northern part, only in the S. They also had two courses of foundation bricks in the south and only one in the N part, since they re-used the wall 7599 for foundation. After these walls, in the construction of the house then follows some infills probably for levelling and raising the building. Before the final infill/levelling event u.21123, they dug a fire pit (F7544). Then above the infill they built the internal walls creating the side rooms (F3658,3659). We do not have much evidence of internal phasing or activities since no features or floors were found. However we can see that at some point they made an entrance in space 502. Why is hard to say, perhaps storage? In the main room space 40, 12 graves have been removed (10 juvenile, 2 adult) They were probably dug in the floor (which however never was found) rather than the backfill of the house. The floor was probably to eroded to have been identified. B 128 might have been contemporary with B112 to the west. The western wall and 112's eastern walls are abutting.
