Unit 2124

Category: layer    dug in 1997

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: grave fill,pit fill

Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous

Dimensions: 0.70 m long, 0.40 m wide, 0.12 m deep

Discussion: This again was quite a mixed deposit. The southern extent of this deposit was very hard to define, largely because if there was an edge to cut [2190] here it was removed as 1982. It was more easily definable in the 'shelf ' that 1955 lay in. Though 1955, 2126, 2125 and 2168 may have been quite separate inhumation episodes, no differences in the fill could be detected by this excavator (amc). In some sense, where 1982 was a general upper fill, 2124 is a general lower fill therefore.

(second sheet added around 17.9)
This deposit must now be regarded as the dump of material which covered 1955 after it had been redeposited above and on top of the chronologically later skeleton 2169
