Unit 2136

Category: cut    dug in 1997

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: grave cut

Data Category Information: Description: burial

Dimensions: 0.30 m long, 0.30 m wide, 0.08 m deep

Discussion: Grave cut for burial 202. Cut is quite irregular, and is deeper to the south west where the baby / infant's skull lay. To the east, the presence of 2 earlier adult long bones seems to have been respected, and consequently there is a flat 'step' here at the bottom of the cut. The infant's spine lay along this on the same orientation as the lower adult bones, but the soft fill 2118 caused the baby / infant body to twist to the left perhaps.
This cut truncates skeleton 2141 to the north, cutting its skull and mandible.
