Unit 22260

Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Dirty floor
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: occupation
Description: U22260 is a plastered floor surface and packing, in the Annex of Building 52, space 255.
Discussion: U22260 was uneven and badly preserved. During its excavation it became obvious that floors at the annex were replastered selectively and in patches; instead of the entire floor to be remade, floors there seemed to be rather repaired than replaced. This made it trickier to excavate in this space. U22260 seemed to be covering most of the West and central part of space 255; there it reached 4-7 cm in thickness, revealing below U22265; where as in the East after the excavation of about two cm an entirely different floor appeared which was excavated under the number U 23498. U22260 had an uneven surface and had not been replastered with care. The packing of this floor seemed to have been of marl.
