Unit 22266
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: post hole infill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: posthole; Deposition: heterogeneous
Description: post hole feature 7764 inside plaster floor U.22265
Discussion: This is infill in a post hole feature in the south east corner of space 255. When uncovering the floor level of space 255, only two features were revealed, this post hole and a platform in the south west corner of the room. There is eveidence of phytoliths and in particular charcoal that suggest remains of a wooden post that suffered burning damage. The platform and the post together could suggest that space 255 was the entrance to building 52 as the post would have possibly supported the roof.
Added 02/08/2015, by Christoffer Hagberg:
A brief discussion with Lara Gonzales-Carretero and Christina Tsoraki ended up with the possibility of this as a feature for dehusking activities, which is something often related to dirty floors. Since this feature cuts a dirty floor (U22260), it is a not too far fetched idea. The dirty floor needs to be examined first to know for sure.
