Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.

Unit description: F1 is an equid second phalanx sent for DNA. F2 is a bone ring fragment. X2 is a fragment of a ring with a raised knob. Last number = 2 Tier 1 Recording (JW: 13-Jul-2015): Large unit with relatively better-preserved material than most middens. Material is relatively evenly split between sheep-sized, cow-sized, and equid remains. Equid material seems to be particular in nature: lower limb elements (sets of articulated limb remains, see below) and jaws (mainly teeth, no preserved mandibular corpuses). Cattle-sized remains are a more even representation of body parts, though somewhat weighted towards meatier remains, this unit also contains several epiphyseal ends of Bos, which is typically rare. Sheep-sized remains arealso evenly spread and dominate the axial elements (vertebrae/ribs). There are several caprine-sized ribs with filleting marks (more than is usual in a unit this size). Burning is very rare in this unit (only a handful of fragments). Some fragments are heavily gnawed, including some of the large Bos-sized remains. Many of the long bones have old fresh breaks, such as spiral fractures, that suggest bones were broken open for marrow consumption. Butchery is evident on a few larger elements, which may be dismemberment/defleshing cuts; cuts on sheep-size remains may be more related to consumption/filleting. 4 sets of articulating equid lower limb remains: one L upper ankle (astragalus, calcaneus, and 4th tarsal), one L lower lower wrist (MCIII, accessory MC, and carpals), and two R lower ankles (MTIIIs and accessory Mts, tarsals). Several other lower limb equid remains (e.g., phalanges) that look like some may have been in articulation with (now missing) remains. Astragalus has some cut marks on the proximal articulation - indication of butchery/processing waste? Articulating 5 young O/C carpals= a lamb/kid wrist.Figurine Records: Yes
