Discussion: U.30193 is the mortar portion of F.3098 which is an internal wall of B.77- North end. The form of mortar is firm but due to burning, south end of the wall is damaged and it is hard to define the structure of the mortar. Special characteristics of the mortar are, its thickness was variable like 0.03 to 0.07. It was burnt and easy to remove. There were cube, rectangular and irregular shaped mortars and also smaller chunks. Also there were mortars between individual bricks.

No flotation sample due to the burnt material. 

 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: orangish brown to grey due to burning 

Texture: clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: very pure clay, with small clay modules 

Post-depositional Features: burnt, animal and insect activity 

Basal Boundary: sharp
