Unit 22084
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: MAKE-UP LAYER
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: make-up layer within the sp.336, B.77
Discussion: The layer assigned under the separate unit number: 22084 must be regarded as the upper part of a make-up placed on the room-fill, that was deposited within the abandoned interior of the predecessor of B.77 (B.132). In that circumstances performing the make-up aimed to establish flat surface, which would be proper enough for setting the first plaster of floor. In that case the layer except for the surrounding walls should be considered as one of the earliest phases of the mentioned building. Worth noticing is the fact that the make-up respected the walls (e.g. F.3098, F.3099, as well as 3096/7301). Consequently, it was younger then mud-brick structures around.
The exploration of the unit was problematic due to long term of exposition (since 2008) and trampling effect. However, distinguishing the layer was not difficult owing to the fact that the deposit was subjected to the high temperature caused by the fire within the interior of B.77. For that reason execution of the deposit embraced whole, relatively homogeneous and burned layer within the mentioned space.
Accordingly within Sp. 337, located Eastward from sp.336 the same kind of layer was recorded as U.22068.
