Unit 30227
Category: Cut dug in 2013
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: Cut for Building Modification/Brick Retrieval,Robber's Trench
Data Category Information: Description: ditch
Discussion: This cut seems to be either a robber's trench or an attempt at modifying the Roman building. It is a highly irregular cut and at the time would have dug into the fill of pit f.3986, immediately to the north. It obscured our ability to distinguish the extent of this pit, as the entire cut [30227- was filled by u.30226, a deposit of grey to dark brown friable soil.
Shape: Irregular-- roughly rectangular but digs into pit cut of f.3986
Sides: Follows terracing cut [30229] to the north, fairly straight to the south
Base Break: Irregular
Base: Comes down onto highly disturbed bricks of f. 3948
Orientation: NW-SE
