Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: plaster; Deposition: layered (wall plaster); Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: This layer comprises of three microlayers, the clay-plaster on top, a gray firm clay layer underneath , and a very small amount of makeup only in the NW corner of the platform, where some sloping occurs.
This layer was directly below layer u.30504, another plaster layer on Platform F.3695. This layer was rather thin in comparison to the other plaster layers above it (~2 cm compared to ~5 cm). However, it followed the same general composition, with one homogenous plaster layer followed by a darker gray clayish plaster layer followed by a brown, loose makup layer. However, the makeup layer in this unit was not continuous throughout the whole platform, like the previous plaster layers above. Instead, the makeup was concentrated in the NW area of the platform, where there was noticeable sloping close to the cut. In addition, the SW corner of the platform showed evidence of burning, just the same as in previous layers. This meant that the three microlayers could not be distinguished in this area, and instead constitued one homogenous, friable layer. After this layer was excavated, a new cut (u.30517) was found in the subsequent plaster layer. This cut extends the cut found in the layers above. It is associated with a separate burial, F. 7120. Because of this, it is possible that this unit is very thin because it was constructed very quickly after the burials were deposited. However, there is no seal associated with cut/fill, so this layer probably represents a normal replastering event for the continued use of PLT F.3695.
