Unit 30516
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: plaster layer + make-up on platform 3695
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: plaster
Description: Thin plaster layer on platform F.3695 with medium brown makeup material beneath. First layer on plateform F.3695 cut by unit 21124.
Discussion: Not excavated in 2013.
TO be excavated AND DOCUMENTED next year.
2014 Update :
This layer comprises a very thin layer of plaster with a firm layer of medium brown make up underneath. It was difficult to uncover the plaster basal boundary beneath the make up material in the northern end of the platform due to the density of the material. In the southern scortched end of the platform, the make up and plaster material was both darker and more friable, enabling easier excavation between layers.
This platform layer was similar to its preceeding layer (u.30507) but was the first of plt F.3695 to be disturbed by the cut u.21124. This cut seems to have served as a trench between plt F.3694 and F.3695. This trench was excavated prior to u. 30516 with the floor of the cut appearing to disappear beneath plt F.3695.
