Unit 30733
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: Pit fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Discussion: This unit was recognized after cut [u.30729] was made clear, and it was obvious that there was more fill to the North of this cut, and that f.7164 was within a much larger pit. The fill was extremely dark, lose, and humus-rich, suggesting a midden deposit, but the very few finds make this an unlikely explanation. It was excavated by trowel. It contained a large amount of small pieces of both Roman and Neolithic mud-brick, suggesting its use as a dump for unused or destroyed structural material.
Consistency: loose, moist

Basal Boundary: clear-- came down on orange Neolithic mud-brick material
