Discussion: This was the topmost layer in space 160, underneath Mellaart's backfill. Because it has been open to weather, its condition was not very good. The soil was very dry and cracked. it must bee an infill layer. Underneath this layer, at the south-east corner of the space, the beginnings of a wall was found which is covered with plaster on its southern face.
Recognition: Top layer in space 160.
Definition: Outlined by space 160's western and northern walls, excavation by the south and east.
Execution: Trowel.
Condition: Dry and crumbly.
Consistency: Soft.
Colour: 10 YR 5/3 Brown.
Texture: Gritty.
Bedding: Massive.
Inclusions: Very little remains of bone, stone and obsidian. 5% small fragments and flecks of salt, less than 2% of charcoal.
Post-depositional Features: Some fine roots and insect activity.
Basal Boundary: Irregular and uneven.
