Dimensions: 0.35 m E-W x 0.1 m N-S, 0.04 m thick (max.)
Discussion: Wall of bin F.257 same as (3196) to E of baulk. It is sitting within bin cut (3352).
Recognition: Slightly greyer than (3186) which was above it, also contains more salts but very difficult to see interface.
Definition: Follows line of wall of bin 257, continues into section of baulk in E, on other side of wall it is called (3197). Ends in W where it slopes down dramatically.
Execution: Trowel, some left unexcavated in section in E.
Condition: Dry, covered.
Consistency: very compact
Colour: 10 YR 7/3 very pale brown.
Texture: silt 70%, very fine sand 10%, clay 20%
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: 5% salts <2 mm diameter, 2% charcoal flecks <1mm diameter, phytoliths 2%, charcoal and phytolith more frequent towards base
Post-depositional Features: root action, salts
Basal Boundary: anthropogenic/abrupt/sloping down to S and E/distinct onto phytolith layer beneath but tends to break off below it disrupts some of this layer
