Unit 32123
Category: Layer dug in 2017
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: clay surface (floor)
Data Category Information: Location: external; Material: mix (dark grey&white); Deposition: single; Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: well-made external clay surface sealed by, and sealing fire spots in open space 610. In some grids (10, 11, 14), a large amount of intrusive charcoal and bone were noted from the layer below. Well preserved in most areas.
Priority feedback:
Grids 11 + 14 were prioritized as they sealed rich charcoal deposits. In general, both samples contained high densities of materials (chipped stone, archaeobots, and faunal), with grid 11 having a higher density across the board. Several in-situ activities are suspected based on an initial study of the materials, such as obsidian knapping, crop cleaning, as well as evidence for food waste and the use of fuelwood as well as dung. Feedback indicated high preservation of materials that were not overly trampled.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
