Discussion: Compacted clay deposit within probable post hole. Excavation began in 2015 with number 22640 ( = same as 32341).
No obvious remains of a post, although some large charcoal frags found in the fill which may indicate the remains of one. Fill is packed up against walls 7707 & 7708. More compacted material found around edges of cut suggesting this might be packing for a post.
Feature possibly over excavated or not bottomed. Base unclear-so excavated to this extent to see when he feature is still visible at lower levels.
Consistency: Very compacted
Colour: mid orange
Texture: slightly silty, sandy clay
Bedding: mottled
Inclusions: Frequent mudbrick frags (some burnt), moderate compacted brown clay chunks, occasional plaster & charcoal flecks.
Post-depositional Features: Left open 2015-2016, probable burrowing
Basal Boundary: unclear
