Discussion: (3243) is soil above a trampled surface (3253). Divided in 4 parts with baulks left between them, the other units being 3228,3241,3242.
The finely sorted material with much charcoal becomes more clayey and gray towards the bottom.
Baulk between (3242) and (3243) dry sieved as (3243).
Recognition: Darker than infilling above.
Definition: Clearly defined from soil over/under.
Execution: Excavated with trowel, divided, leaving baulks.
Condition: Moist.
Consistency: firm
Colour: 10 YR 4/4 dark yellowish brown
Texture: silty clay/clay towards bottom
Bedding: massive, maybe a little layered towards the bottom
Inclusions: charcoal 5-10% (small)
Post-depositional Features: animal hole
Basal Boundary: the surface below seems trampled, sharp distinctness, distinct contrast, smooth surface; slightly sloping down at very W end at the wall
