Discussion: Possible posthole fill, seen at surface 3181 however may well have been cut from higher up. Function within midden area is unknown. (SF)
Recognition: The difference in fill was noticeable in the different texture of the surface, which was less smooth than the surrounding surface and was defined by the circular pattern of the dge of the cut.
Definition: The layer is defined by the dge of the cut, and was recognised on surface 3181 although it may have gone unrecognised in previous layers.
Execution: Trowelled, first half-sectioned
Condition: Very dry, and baked hard.
Consistency: friable
Colour: 2.5 Y 6/2-5/2 light brownish grey/grayish brown
Texture: sandy silt loam
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: 5-10% charcoal <10 cm, <2% bone
Post-depositional Features: roots towards base
Basal Boundary: fairly abrupt, constructional, distinct contrats, smooth edge, wavy base
