Dimensions: 0.46 m E-W x 0.48 m N-S, 0.1 m high/deep 

 

Discussion: Cut for bin F.256. It seems that the roof of oven F.268 has been truncated to leave a flat bottomed bowl shaped depression to which walls have been added on the N and E and slightly to W. The line of the original oven roof can be seen as a shadow on the N facing wall. Its original height being 0.16 m above the bottom of this cut. It is probable that this cut is what weakened the roof of oven F.268 and made it collapse in the centre (3374). 

 

Recognition: Seen when bin walls (3353) removed. Seen in section of oven previously. 

Definition: Continues in S to wall F.71 and to W to wall F.93. Truncated to E by 1997 excavation (baulk section) and stops about 10 cm before edge of oven. 

Execution: Leaf, 1/2 sectioned. 

Condition: Dry, covered. 

Shape: rectangular 

Sides: smooth 45 degrees 

Base Break: gradual
