Dimensions: 0.44 m N-S x 0.15 m E-W; 0.01 m thick
Discussion: Ash layer on top of floor (3680), same as (3673) to E of baulk. It occurs within confines of plaster feature with rims F.289. Don't know where ash is generated from, the floor beneath shows no scorching. Possibly from fire installation to W.
Recognition: Grey ashy layer within confines of F.289.
Definition: Eliptical shaped deposit, deposited on top of floor and against fire installation and plaster feature in W. Continues into baulk in E. Beyond this it is called (3673).
Execution: Leaf.
Condition: Hot.
Consistency: loose at top, friable beneath
Colour: 2.5 Y 5/2 to 3/2 grayish brown to very dark greyish brown
Texture: ash 70% silt 30%
Bedding: layered, thin layers/lenses of pale yellow plaster discontionous
Inclusions: 20% charcoal flecks 1 mm to 5 mm, 2% salt flecks <1 mm, <10-20% orange flecks (organic residue) mostly towards base (sampled in (3673)), thin lenses of yellow plaster, discontinous 5%

Basal Boundary: abrupt/anthropogenic/smooth/sloping down to E
