Area: South
Interpretive Categories: infill,make up
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: floor (packing only); Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Unit (3683) is excavated as a whole unit. Although in (3683) we have similar type of soil there are sligth differences in N, S and E sides of the unit.
North half: compact fine light gray soil with small pieces of burnt brick and plaster aggregates.
Eastern quarter: from the S corner of post hole to the baulk (E-W) along the white plastered line we have some mud bricks parallell to the plastered line.
Southern half: a bit looser soil, with pieces of orange coloured burnt bricks from the S end of (3616) to the E-W baulk.
N-S baulk excavated later (9/9/98) but it seems to extend to S of square but can't be fully exacavted until next year as underneath deposit to S.
Recognition: Light gray colour with orange (burnt brick) white (plaster). (3683) located between a baulk and a curved line of plaster from post hole (at the bottom of W wall to another baulk, S-W direction).
Definition: The boundaries were clear up to a wall and within a cut on its N, up to baulks on its W and S.
Execution: (3683) is being excavated by trowel and leaf trowel, it starts at the edge.
