Unit 3790
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: ash dump
Data Category Information: Location: external; Deposition: finely bedded
Discussion: Towards the N end of layer (3773) there were small pockets of ash (dark grey) which appeared to be in the same layer. Some of (3773) had already been removed over it, but it seemed to occur within this layer and was fairly distinct from the underlying patchy layer. An animal hole just to the W of this unit may explain some of the loose material in this area. A lighter grey ash which initially appeared to be within this unit, now appears to be in the patchy layer below.
In the section this ashy layer looks a lot more distinct from (3773) than it did in plan.
Recognition: Ashy lenses concentrated in layer same as (3773).
Definition: N - midden section; E - fades off/abutts 3740?; S - abutts (3773) and W - midden section.
