Data Category Information: Location: in abandoned building; Deposition: coarsely bedded (dumps)
Dimensions: up to 3.30m N-S ; 4m E-W ; 0.01m deep
Discussion: homogenous mid to dark brown colour layer - when began to excavate quickly became apparent that relatively thin skim of material -up to 0.01m thick but frequently thinner. - originally excavated east of 914 easting but then area of excavation redefined and extended to west. Could distinguish layer as far as break of slope to west but then faded out.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.

Unit description: F 20 subsampled for ZooMS (DCO 2014) This is a lens from the east half of space 115. it is on top of midden 4121 and could be either the remains of the previous horizon or a separate, very thin layer. It was the surface deposit over the last year, and certainly trampled. The unit consists of sheep and pig cranial fragments and a few very small long bone fragments, most of which were broken post-depositionally. There are very few fragments that could even possibly have come from a larger animal. The number of cranial bones is interesting given the high number of cranial bones found in the midden/fill in Building 2 from phase 5, and the presence of the large Bos primigenius in the SE corner of the space. Last Number = 27Figurine Records: No GroundStone Records: No Heavy Residue Records: No Microfaunal Records: No
