Unit 3773
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Data Category Information: Location: external; Deposition: coarsely bedded (dumps)
Discussion: After following one potential horizon we decided that the underlying deposit was similar to the overlying , so took it down some more, distinctive grey flecked layer. However the flecky layer was quite intermixed with the phytolith overlying material so we took it further down to a patchy deposit with large lumps of charcoal and orange material. The grey flecky stuff was compact and had similar inclusions to the previous material, we noted a lot of obsidian and frequent bone and clay balls.
The relationship between the patchy and flecked layer became more complicated as both had characteristics of the other, and were very mixed. It eventually was possible to find a fairly coninous interface.
