Dimensions: depth 0.7-0.1 cm; length 45 cm; width 35 cm 

Discussion: Twentieth layer of floor lenses on platform F239. Labelled as 39 on plan 98-639.

This appeared in section to be one layer, but actually was made up of lenses of material, at least four. Some of these lenses were only apparent in the W half of the excavated area, others in the E half. Possibly this is a cut into the platform, although it looked in section as if the layer was continuous. The surfaces were cracked and pitted. 

Recognition: Floor of platform. Colour/texture changes. 

Definition: Defined by limit of excavation. 

Execution: Leaf trowel and patience. 

Condition: Dry. 

Consistency: compact but friable when crushed 

Colour: 7.5 YR 6/2 pinkish grey, also is reddish in same areas 

Texture: silty clay to ashy clay 

Bedding: compound layered 

Inclusions: few frag/flecks of charcoal 

Post-depositional Features: none 

Basal Boundary: cracked surfaces, discontinous, pitted
