Unit 4024
Category: Cut dug in 1998
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: grave cut,scoop
Data Category Information: Description: scoop
Dimensions: not able to determine the dimensions, see discussion. Diameter c.0.35m, depth 0.12m+
Discussion: Cut through platform F239. Possibly a grave cut. This was found whilst excavating a 35 x 55 cm square of floors in platform near cut (pit) (3867). Was not further excavated as is too late in season.
The fill is unit (4022).
The cut definitely has been made through unit (4025), a layer of plaster floors on platform, it is also possible that it cut through (4018) and (4021) the layers above (4025), as they are cracked and discontinuous. However, it is more likely that this is because they were laid down over the cut/fill.
Recognition: Cut through plaster floor.
Definition: Defined by cut walls and running section.
Execution: Not fully excavated, but what was excavated was done with leaf trowel.
Condition: Slightly moist.
Shape: appears circular
Sides: what sides are visible are vertical
Base Break: not visible
Base: not visible
Orientation: n/a
