Dimensions: 34 by 20 cm by 65cm (wall 401) + 32 by 20 by 65cm ( wall 400) 

Discussion: This cut removed sections of wall 400 + 401 to the depth of wall 403 (~65cm).To the south of the space where wall 403 would have been, walls 401 + 400 step down again, an extra cut whose purpose is not immediately obvious but which is associated with the construction of wall 403.

NB the lower/earlier cut is a 'step' or foundation cut for walls 400 + 401 SF

In section this cut which cuts southern ends of walls 400 + 401 shows a clear basal fill & the matrix has been changed accordingly. ( SF 29/06/99 )

Definition: to north - cut into 400 + 401, to east - east side of wall 401, to south - edge wall 403, west - west edge of 400
