Discussion: Homogenous layer of mid brown material with occasional phytolith traces throughout. Very distinct from infill material above-which was full of inclusions and demolition material-seems to represent a phase between the final use of the space and the infilling-although I have no idea what the unit itself would actually be-trample?? natural infill?

Recognition: Didn't recognise this at first even though very distinct from overlying infill material.

Definition: Reasonably clear, seems to be lying within lower part of room

Execution: Trowel/ handpick

Condition: Slightly damp

Consistency: Friable

Colour: Mid brown

Texture: Clay silt

Bedding: Massive

Inclusions: Occasional charcoal flecks and small frags, moderate phytoliths flecks throughout. Clay ball frags, stone frags, obsidian, charcoal, shell, bone
