Unit 4900
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Floor/ surface
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Material: white clay; Deposition: multiple
Discussion: Plaster floor of bin F 520 consisting of dual layer of white plaster over bricky make-up little more than 1cm thick except where it lips up in south-west corner.
-The sequence of events within the bins is:
1) cut made in 4905. Surface or make-up 4896 and arm 4907 constructed. The remains of the level IX wall apparently formed the northern 'arm' of F 488
2) Arm 4893 constructed on 4896 dividing the 2 bins
3) Surface 4900 laid within bin F 520 only partly overlying 4896. Whether the latter originally ran right up to 4907 and was partly truncated when 4900 was laid is unclear.
Recognition: Recognised during excavation of 4896 as a distinct deposit overlying that in the south (within bin F 520)
Definition: White plaster over darker make-up
Execution: Trowel
Condition: Farily dry
Consistency: Firm
Colour: pale yellow over light grey-brown/ orange-brown
