Discussion: 4972 was a large wedge of mixed silty-clay, truncated by cut 4771 to the south, 4958 to the east and 4973 to the north. To the west, it was very cracked and crumbling, where it overlay the wall from the building beneath. Its composition of mixed clay and oven demolition debrissuggests that it was probably some sor of levelling deposit between the 'clean' and 'dirty' areas of the building to the west and east respectively.
